On-screen controls

A phone keyboard has no Esc, Tab, Ctrl or arrow keys, but a terminal needs all four. Termphin adds them as on-screen controls.

Two independent sets of controls exist: the key toolbar and the action dock. Both are optional. Turn them on or off separately in Settings - On-screen controls.

Key toolbar

The key toolbar is a grid of keys above the keyboard. It holds the keys a phone keyboard does not have: Esc, Tab, Ctrl, arrows, function keys, and others.

The keys are grouped: Navigation, Editing, Modifiers, Function keys, Symbols, and Custom. Custom keys send text you define.

The grid's shape is yours to set: columns, rows, pages, and button height. A smaller grid warns how many keys will no longer fit.

More than one arrangement can be kept. Each is called a "Toolbar layout". One layout is always in use, and the last one cannot be deleted.

Arrange keys

Tap a slot, then tap a key to fill it. Or drag a key onto a slot. A key can only be in one slot: placing one that is already on the toolbar moves it.

Action dock

The action dock is a floating button over the terminal. Tap it to open a panel of tiles. The tiles are: Fast upload, Paste, insert a snippet, new session, tunnels, rename, and the connection log.

Only Fast upload, Paste, and insert a snippet are shown by default. The rest start in a tray and can be brought out.

Arrange tiles

Long-press a tile and drag it onto another to swap them. Tap a tile to move it in or out of the tray.

The dock button remembers where you drag it.
